Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin & his Wife Anne Wojcicki Donated USD500000 to Creative Commons

Google co-founder Sergey Brin and his wife, Anne Wojcicki, have donated $500 k to a Copyright reform advocacy group – Creative Commons.

According to the blog post of Creative Commons, “This gift–made in addition to the financial support that Google offers CC annually–will be used to support Creative Commons generally, with a focus on developing our Science Commons project, which Wojcicki and Brin are particularly excited about.”

Anne Wojcicki is the CEO of genetics start-up 23andme.

Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share.

The organization has issued several copyright-licenses known as Creative Commons licenses.

These licenses permit creators to communicate which rights they reserve, and which rights they waive for the benefit of recipients or other creators.
